10 Days in Colombia

June 21, 2022

In our usual style, my boyfriend and I planned to leave the country with 24 hours until take-off. This isn’t the first time we have done an international send with no planning in advance, but this is the first time we have gone somewhere out of the country neither of us has been to before. We booked a one-way ticket to Bogotá, and 17 hours later we were in the air.

Some would say we are spontaneous, others would call us insane. I think we’re a little bit of both.

Thankfully we had loads of recommendations from friends and we booked the last room at a great hotel while we were taking off. We landed just in time for dinner. One of my favorite things in Colombia is the food. Everything we ate was so fresh and flavorful, every meal was a treat.

Also in Bogotá there is phenomenal shopping and dancing. We met up with some friends who live outside the city and they showed us around. We found ourselves hopping from a local vinyl discotheque to an underground psychedelic cumbia show. The nights were fueled with better cocktails than I have had at the best bars in Los Angeles and started with the most delicious meals to keep us dancing well into the night.
