"We are all of us stars
and we deserve to twinkle"
I did my first modeling campaign when I was in the womb... literally. And my second shortly thereafter.
My mom was a model before I was born, hence how I was modeling in the womb - she was doing some pregnancy shots for JC Penny. I grew up around the modeling world, but not in it. My mom wanted to keep me away from the industry perpetrating body image issues.
Nevertheless, I wanted to be like one of the girls on the glossy pages of the magazines, like every other young girl. Except, every time I went into an agency they told me I needed to lose 10-20 lbs and get plastic surgery on my lip (I busted it when I was 7).
Anyways, I didn't feel like starving myself or getting plastic surgery. And I have found a career in this industry anyways.
I came to Los Angeles to be a model on the tails of being signed with Wilhelmina in Denver while I was in college at CU Boulder. I asked them if they would place me in LA, and they about laughed in my face.
So instead of letting this deter me, I started directing my own photoshoots in my bedroom with friends and using those photos to submit myself to jobs. I became my own agent. Before I knew it, I was not only modeling more than ever, but also getting acting gigs and booking commercials and movie roles.
